Profile:
Since 1986, Maria has made and shown work in galleries and at live events across the UK. The majority of Maria’s work is 2 dimensional, using a variety of media including painting, printmaking, drawing and mixed media. She finds inspiration in the landscape of North Wales and in the human form.
Maria’s work is in private and public collections nationally and internationally.
Maria has also explored in depth the connection between the drawn line and the figure in motion and has developed a form of live “action painting” in collaboration with theatre and dance companies such as Volcano Theatre Co and Paul Davies (NEWD).
Maria combines this practice with education and training work in schools, galleries and Higher Education institutions across Wales and the UK. Maria is regularly commissioned to devise and deliver workshops and longer courses in arts and gallery education.
Maria has experience of mentoring, lecturing, research, curating exhibitions, arts administration and project management.

Key Skills
- Creative: I have generated a large body of visual artwork during twenty years of practise as a professional artist. I have recently been adding illustration skills to my portfolio. I have also developed devising and directing skills.
- Organisational: I have set up and used systems for cataloguing, filing and archiving material and current data. I am systematic in my documentation of projects and work and am reliable in the routine running of my own business and other work duties.
- IT: Word, Excel, Power Point, Entourage, Photoshop, Digital imaging and web use. I have experience of both Mac and PC systems.
- Mentoring: I have mentored in both official and unofficial capacities.
- Training: I regularly devise and deliver training courses to artists, teachers and other groups in the education, creative and caring sectors.

I represented the Visual Arts and Crafts sector on the Board of Directors for
Arts Training Wales. This was an unpaid and advisory position.
I had responsibility for chairing an on-line forum for Visual Artists to assess and discuss their
training needs. The outcomes are relayed to the Sector Skills Council.

I was a founding member of the Arts Venture group. We successfully applied for funding and ran a comprehensive programme of subsidized art-based courses for the local community.
